Balboa & Shag Workshop with Jeremy Otth!

We’re excited to welcome international instructor Jeremy Otth to Honolulu, Sept 28-29!  Join us for a fun, high-energy weekend of Balboa and Collegiate Shag with one of the most versatile and creative swing dancers out there. Jeremy will be partnered by Honolulu’s own Deb Eason.

The weekend workshop will include an introduction to Shag, a fun, up-tempo swing dance that’s quickly growing in popularity around the world. Plus, a progressive series of Balboa classes will include sessions for Bal-curious beginners and advanced dancers alike. (No experience necessary for first day; Sunday classes will increase in difficulty.) Don’t miss this opportunity to take classes with one of swing dancing’s best in a small, intimate class setting.

About the Instructors

Jeremy Otth amassed a great amount of knowledge on the historic essence of vintage swing dances from many of the original jitterbugs and swing dancers. Along with his seemingly inexhaustible amount of energy, Jeremy’s natural talent and dedication led him to accumulate championship titles at many acclaimed dance competitions such as the International Lindy Hop Championships, National Jitterbug Championships, American Classic Balboa Championships and the US Open Swing Dance Championships. Jeremy is now able to share that breadth of knowledge and passion for these classic partner dances by entertaining and educating feet from Southern California to around the world.

And most of you already know Deb Eason, who’s been a teacher and organizer in the Honolulu scene since 2005. She’s passionate about the swing dance community, and strives to provide new opportunities for our local dancers. On the dance floor, she’s especially fond of great partner connection and playful musicality. She’s been honored with various awards and competition wins, but she’s most at home social dancing and geeking out over technique in the classroom. Other hobbies include brownies, and an odd obsession with black sesame ice cream.
