New to swing dancing? You’re in the right place! We offer a variety of classes for beginning dancers, from a free 30-min intro lesson at our weekly Thursday dance, to multi-week class series in Lindy Hop and Balboa. Read on for details!
Free Mini-Lesson at Swing Ong King
We kick off our weekly social dance with a free half-hour intro lesson! This quick crash course will get you out on the dance floor in no time. We’ll go over some basic partner connection, the 6-count basic, and a few easy moves to get you started. No experience necessary, everyone welcome (even those with two left feet)!
Date/Time: Every Thursday 8-8:30pm (drop-in class)
Location: Ong King Arts Center, 1154 Fort Street Mall, Honolulu
No partner or dance experience required. We strongly suggest wearing comfortable shoes that stay securely on your feet (–> sneakers, not slippers!).
Swing Fundamentals – A and B series
Throughout the year, we alternate between two 4-week beginning swing series geared towards students with little-to-no experience in Lindy Hop Swing. The A series focuses on 6-count swing moves and variations, while the B series focuses on 8-count moves and variations. New students can start with EITHER the A or B series (whichever starts next). If you’ve been wanting to learn to swing dance, are new to Lindy Hop, and/or are looking for more than just a quick mini-lesson, this is for you!
No partner or dance experience required. We strongly suggest wearing comfortable shoes that stay securely on your feet (no slippers, backless or high heels).
