HJ - 4/11/08 Fast dancing mania!

Beginner Lindy Hop Series with Evan - 6-week series on Thursday nights (Apr 17, 24) 7-8pm at Ong King Art Center. No partner or experience necessary! Series includes FREE admission to the Hawaii Jitterbug's dance following classes. This will be Week 5.

Night Class with Brent and Christina - This Sunday 4/13, intermediate/advanced class at Manoa Dance Studio 8-9pm. This week will be all about advancing speed in your dancing. Scenario: Fast song starts playing. Someone asks you to dance. You reluctantly comply. The dance is uncomfortable, tense, and awkward. The follow isn't coming in fast enough and the lead is yanking her around the dance floor. Can these daunting dance dramas be remedied? Is there hope for another fast song or is that it for the night?

Ah yes, the anomaly of a fast dance will seem less mysterious after this class. We will be giving tips, doing exercises, and going over appropriate moves for faster dancing. When I first started dancing, I loved dancing fast songs even when I wasn't able to do it. I loved the beat and the high energy! Hyong told me, "I think I know why fast dancing is so fun... lack of oxygen to the brain." I thought that was funny. So come out on Sunday and let's have fun rockin' it out!

The next 2 classes, we will apply the fast dancing concepts when we learn the California routine.
